I really wish they hadn't used those pictures. Or at least you should have forwarned people you they were going to see horrible images and not unpleasant ones. The pain is still palpable and the memories still searing for this survivor who lost all her friends on that day. Two of them were forced to jump out of those windows.
No one should use those images to make a political point, not the left nor the right.
Although I understand his points, I think they would have been better said and more eloquent without the exploitation of images from that horrible day.
Michele,
I think you have a valid point if you're upset that there should have been more a warning that there would be graphic images.
But I think you're wrong that those images should somehow be off-limits politically. Of course any decent person has a duty to not use them in an otherwise disrespectful or capricious manner, but their gravity and that of the event they depict is vitally important subject matter. The sheer horror of that day is a valid argumentative point. It would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. You could just as easily say that pictures of the Holocaust are off-limits, or that of dead soldiers.
Michele - my apologies. I'll change the warning...
... Done.
Thanks Harvey, I really appreciate it!
