QUOTE OF THE DAY
From Blogdaughter Tammi of Road Warrior Survival (who, incidentally, now has a special blogroll of those attending the Bad Example Family (& Friends) Reunion - I highly encourage attendees to read each other, so that there's maximal common ground):
there's a big difference between confidence and arrogance. BIG DIFFERENCE. Being confident in yourself and your abilities comes from training and testing. You KNOW you can do it, you've proven yourself over and over again. That's a good thing - that's something that I wish for everyone. With Arrogance you KNOW no one can do it BETTER. That's not so good. Arrogance will bite you in the ass every time, sooner or later.
Confident people compare themselves to themselves. Arrogant people compare themselves to others.
Well said, Tammi.
So you didn't really like the whole "farting into a fan" image? ;0
Thanks Harvey!!! Seems we were cross linking each other. Is that legal?
Thanks for visiting me and Yes, I do occasionally pop in here to have a read! :D
I try to be confident (hopefully not arrogant) but it usually gets read as 'bossy' - not so good as confident.
I was once asked what is the difference between confidence and arrogance by a NASA engineering intern a few years back. I was a subcontractor running a developmental lab and had often crossed swords with my NASA mastas. I replied that confidence is knowing your limits and arrogance was not.
Tammi - the farting into the fan thing was nice, but the other quote overshadowed it. Oh, and cross-linking is sorta like a blogger 69, so you have to check your local sodomy laws to see if that's legal.
Harriet - next time you stop by, I hope you pipe up, even if it's just "[waves hello]". Naughty little lurker! :-)
FF - sounds like Dirty Harry in Magnum Force...
By the way, how did you ever find my blog? You seem WAY too respectable to be caught dead in a dive like this :-)
