SPITTING ON JANE FONDA
A Vietnam vet spit tobacco juice on Jane Fonda.
Gut reaction - YEAH!!!
Pause... Civilized portion of brain kicks in.
Assault isn't free speech.
BUT... as far as making a statement, I might have had some sympathy if he would've stood there afterwards & let himself be arrested.
He ran.
If he really believed what he was doing was right, he would've accepted the consequences without protest. An act of civil disobedience to point out that Jane Fonda is a lying bitch, a fraud, a traitor, and unworthy to walk the streets of America as a free woman when she should have been tried, convicted and hung for giving aid and comfort to the enemy during a time of war.
But he ran.
And Fonda gets to look magnanimous by not pressing charges.
So I will condemn the spitting incident, because it's illegal.
And pray that the next person to do it does it right.
I agree dont do the crime if you cant do the time. Plus now he just made her look like the victem victom victim damn I wish comments came with spell checker I believe my thrid attempt is right. The one good thing is Jane Fonda is getting old so that means she will die soon.

who's the bigger loser? Someone who apologized for a mistake she made 40 years ago or someone who would harbor this hate for so many years?

I get the impression she only apologized so more people would buy her book. After all, she's re-launching her career, why not give the world the impression that she's sorry, then blame it on her upbringing.
But people can speak volumes by doing nothing at all. Instead of the ol' "hock n' rocket" like our brave patriot did. Just don't buy into her latest attempt to get money. *shrug*
Frankly, Fonda was before my time, but her legacy remains. No matter what she tries, it's always gonna haunt her. That I think, is enough for me.
Not to get to deep into Ms. Fonda's past but I always thought the Vietnam thing was more to shock her father than any real feeling for Ho Chi Minh's boys. I don't think there's enough hock in the world to cover all those that protested that particular conflict.
Hear hear. If we condone such activity by conservatives, we relinquish any moral authority to criticize when liberals (FAR more frequently) pull such shenanigans. I can't say I disagree with the guy's sentiment, though.

Just to clarify - what Fonda did wasn't a "mistake". She did it on purpose.
So no, I don't blame someone for still hating her.
Apologizing? Crap. You can't talk your way out of something you behaved yourself into. The only apology I'd accept is her suicide.
