EVERY SOAP NEEDS...
Just thinking about soap operas, and it occurred to me that there are certain general story lines that must necessarily be going on at all times, and if one character stops being the subject of one of these lines, then another character must take their place:
Someone's getting married.
Someone's battling a "fatal" disease.
Someone's having an affair.
Someone has amnesia.
Someone doesn't know who the baby's real father is.
What else?
And love triangles are a given, so you don't have to mention that.
1. Someone has an evil twin doing bad things in his/her name.
2. A really rich character is giving a blackmailer her/his first born child.
3. At least 3 people on every soap are unaware of their true mother and or father.
Isn't there always someone fighting alcoholism too? Or is that considered battling a disease?
And every time I haven't been able to change the channel fast enough, there's always someone trying to break up some couple...
I think someone always comes back from the dead... they died, but didn't really die, and come back years later.
Someone has to be trying desperately to keep a secret (usually involving one of those things).
Someone is black mailing someone else.
And evil twin has arrived in town.
Someone who was thought to be dead arrives in town (usually to interrupt a wedding or some bow-chicka-bow-wow)
Someone becomes blind, deaf, maimed, or paralyzed - only to be completely healed a few weeks later....
I could go on but I won't. ;) Having some daytime TV lately, Harvey??
Maybe a little Days Of Our Lives, but only in an effort to spend quality time with TNT.
I can quit any time I want...
and donchya know? Everyone has an evil twin!
And some eeeee-vil/psycho person is plotting to "get even" with someone else (or the entire town).
