OSTRACIZED PACKER FAN - REAL OR FAKE?

Saw this at Matty O'Blackfive's place:

[220Kjpg large, clear version - suitable for enlarging and/or examining closely - found at I Hate My Cubicle!!!]

I'm saying this one is fake, in the sense that the original kid in this picture was not wearing a Packers jersey.

If you look closely at his right side, you'll notice that his shirt doesn't touch his pants.

Plus the boards to the right of his head are the same as the boards 12 further to the right.

Someone in Matty's comments suggested that it was photoshopped from this Michigan picture:

Unfortunately, this one is fake, too.

Notice the reflection of the sign on the floor. It says "ROOM 311", not "RM 1872". Also, Michigan doesn't have a jersey like that. And if it did, the stripe on the collar would be yellow, not white.

As far as I can tell, the original came from the Toronto Maple Leafs site:

Notice that's a real Canadiens jersey.

And everything else in the pic looks real to me, too.

If it's faked, it's a DAMN good one.

Everything's in place. The reflections, the shadows, the stitching near the bottom of the curtains, and even the distortion of the reflections where the floor surface is uneven. I see no evidence of a large swath of kids getting photoshopped out of the picture.

I assume the photographer staged this one as an icebreaker before taking the official class picture.

The only problem is that - while Redpath is a huge sugar company in Toronto - I could NOT find a school by that name in Toronto.

If anyone knows where "Redpath PS" is, let me know.

The first thing I noticed that led me to believe that the Packer picture is fake, all image quality concerns aside, is that judging by all the kids in the front row, the photographer had all the kids put their hands on their knees.

Of course, there's always the one kid who's an idiot and doesn't understand that command, but he's already in the picture.

However, I think this is probably an advertisement that some photographer was paid to dig up a bunch of kids and everything and make. Almost definitley not a real class from a real school.

I knew it was a fake because all the kids on the right are smiling instead of staring at the kid in the Favre jersy in disgust....

Grau's just upset that people like Favre, unlike any QB the Bears have had for the last 20 years. That gives me an idea. Someone should photoshop a Grossman jersey onto the kid.

Grau's just mad that Rick freakin' Mirer is the last QB da Bears had that wasn't better replaced by a random fan from the stands, and that was only barely.

Anyway, I doubt you'll find that public school anywhere in Toronto, due to liability concerns.

That's an advertisement photo. While it's not Photoshopped, it *IS* staged, for the benefit of the advertisement.

Or where you to busy trying to find the hints of Photoshopping to notice the "Toronto Maple Leafs The Mission That Unites Us" logo in the corner? As a staged ad photo, they wouldn't use a real PS name, because someone, somewhere, would take offense, and sue the Leafs into oblivion over it. Ever notice you've never seen a public school you've ever heard of in a publicity photo?

Yes, I *was* too busy looking for signs of photoshopping.

Figured the readership could do the rest of my work for me :-)

Anyway, I've never seen any publicity photos before, so I wouldn't know about the whole using fake school names thing.

I like how you stay right on top of the serious, important stuff going on in the world. It's time we bring that Matt down. Matt Lied, Poodles Died. Matty O'Shinerbock.
