OPINION, PLEASE

Let's say you leave a particularly witty comment at some blog. The site owner has a clever response. Would you prefer to see that response put in the comments so that everyone can see how the site owner noticed how witty you are, or would you prefer that the response be e-mailed to you so that you can enjoy the personal attention?

If your answer is "it depends", please explain.

Definitely in the comments section.

It's nice to know that the site owner is actually reading the comments, good, bad and witty.

Both--let me 'splain. Email, so I know the site owner read it without having to wander back looking for that post; posted, so everyone can enjoy the owner's brilliance, and perhaps keep up the conversation...

Personally, I usually do neither, because it's too much freakin' work... ;)

Hmmm...In the comments is fine with me (takes less time for the blogger than e-mail), but I'm okay with either. I was pleased to get the e-mail from you, Harv--it showed you took a personal interest.

BAH! I'm interested in no one! Stop besmirching my reputation! :-P

I would say both! :-)

Both, and that's what I do. I will send an e-mail and repost what I said in the comments. I know I don't always go back and re-read comments, so that way I know that the poster appreciated what I said when I get my e-mail.

I say POST IT man. Good god you have the power so use it!

I say comments. Heck, the original comment was for the blogger's post, so it's all theirs. I think that'll encourage "fair play" by way of comments on the other person's site.
