DINOSAUR?
When was the last time you saw a cigarette vending machine?
Last one I remember was in 1998 in a little bar near the capital building in Madison, Wisconsin.
UPDATE 7:30 AM - Also please mention if you remember one that wasn't in a bar. Last one of those I remember was a grocery store in the 70's.
Two days ago in my local bar. Actually I see a lot of them in bars still.
Yeah, the local "would be a strip club if Rockford allowed nudity" bar has one.
I think it was in a hotel lobby about 20 years ago (I was 3 then, yeah, that's the ticket)
Last month in Memphis, at Hueys downtown. (Yes, a bar, but the bar with what people in Memphis claim is the best burger in town.)
Last one I saw that wasn't in a bar was in a little store in Davenport Iowa a few years back. Still had the old school pull out handle thingeys.
Fairmont Bowl - bowling alley in SLC, UT - about 14 years ago, just before they tore it down. Haven't seen - or at least noticed - one since.
I could use an excuse to check out some of the old honkeytonks around these parts... ;)
Shakey's Pizza in the early 80's and the bowling alley right around the same time. I can remember as a kid driving my mother nuts by pulling all the handles as we walked past the cigarette machines.
Pay phones are becoming obsolete too.
They removed them in the mid 90's in NYC when they were trying to prevent children from getting access to them.
Waffle House, of course. When Georgia banned smoking pretty much everywhere we took the machines out, but a few of our out-of-state restaurants still have them.
There is one in the diner in my hometown. Still there. weird.
